Program Directors:    Marianna Tcherkassky and Rosine Bena

Marianna Tcherkassky:

Presently Ballet Mistress at Pittsburg Ballet theatre.  Before arriving in Pittsburgh, Ms. Tcherkassky enjoyed a twenty-six year dancing career with American Ballet Theatre and has been recognized as one of the world leading ballerinas, having worked with some of the most illustrious dance artists of the 20^th century.  Since her retirement from the stage in 1996, Ms.Tcherkassky has taught for the University of Cincinnati from who she received an honorary doctorate of performing arts, being cited for “exemplifying the excellence which will have a lasting impression for generations to come.”  She has also taught for the Bartholin Institute in Copenhagen, Denmark and extensively throughout the United States.

Rosine Bena:

Ms. Bena is the Artistic Director of Sierra Nevada Ballet, the professional ballet company for northern Nevada.  She is a former ballerina with the Stuttgart Ballet, the Washington Ballet and Peninsula Ballet Theatre.  Ms. Bena is the former director of the internationally acclaimed Peninsula Ballet Theater School and is the Director of the Ballet Program at In Motion Studio of Dance in Reno, and at Western Nevada performing Arts Center in Carson City and teaches at the University of Nevada.  She is an international master teacher and teaches workshops throughout the USA.
